Swiss Sunday

Got a real treat today-Dinner @ Jon & Marchelle's!!!! Cousin Maegan and I drove down there together. Here's a pic of the table, pre-food consumption.

I was treated to a Swiss meal!!!! Courtesy of a "raclette" a type of grill. Meat on top for grilling, a tray underneath for melting cheese. Cheese choices for this meal were smoked gouda and swiss! Here's Jon grilling the chicken and bratwurst :)

Here's another view of the cheese :)

There was a VARIETY of tidbits to eat with our melted cheese :) Apples, meat, baked red potatoes, red peppers, onions, cooked vegetables and the most popular..... bruschetta!!!!

Since my birthday was the next day, I was fortunate to recieve gifts as well! Here's Marchelle with gifts I recieved from them- a book, Pres. Uchtdorf's "Happily Ever After" and a quote wall hanging- "It's kind of fun to do the impossible."-bt Walt Disney. She said it reminded her of me :)

After dinner...... GAMES!!!!! I chose Scattergories, a favorite of mine as a child :) A few changes to the game but still pretty much the same. You select a list, 1-16, roll a letter and have a time limit to think of as many items you can that start with that letter and meet the criteria for that list. For example, if the letter was "B" and item #2 on the list was "things you find in a purse" you might choose "brush" but if someone else chose brush.... neither of you get points! You get double points for alliteration-such as "blue brush" Here's Jon, Marce & Maegan

And here's Maegan putting the final layer on the TRIPLE layer brownies! Eating one of those brownies is not just eating a brownie, it's an EXPERIENCE. Seriously. A layer of brownie, raspberry & cream cheese/white chocolate chip frosting. Complemented by a handful of hard candies-my favorite were the butterscotch ones :)

A night of food, friends, fun, visiting, laughing. I felt SO loved the whole night! Thanks to all!!!

PS-another bright spot to the day, getting a birthday card from the Bishop's wife. Being new to the ward, this meant the world to me!!!
