Dear Grandpa

Dear Grandpa,

Hi :) I recently started attending what was your home ward for many years because I will soon be to old for the singles ward :) I never intended to be single attending a family ward but while there were moments of tears, anxiety, etc when time came, it just seemed like a natural next step to take. A big reason why I felt at peace is because of YOU.

The last time I was in the church building was at your funeral 2 years ago, I remember that lots of people from the ward were there to pay their respects to you. I heard many kind words, smiles and tributes directed towards you. I remember at the Morley family reunion just weeks after your passing we shared our favorite memories of you. I remember Christopher was asked by someone for some legal advice. This person had never met him before, but "because he was Bob Morley's grandson, that was good enough for him."

That's a a big part of why I wasn't afraid to go to a new ward. Besides the fact that the gospel is true everywhere you go, carrying the Morley name helped me to stand tall. I figured that because you were so well loved and respected there that if I was connected to you people would welcome and accept me as well, (still being my own person, of course :)).

I like attending church in a ward where you were so faithful as a home teacher. Where you sat in the chapel and worshipped without fail, Sunday in and Sunday out. It makes me feel close to you to be in a place where you have such a presence. I like to think you'd be proud of me for choices that I've made in my life and where my life is going.

Right now the ward is requesting volunteers to help with the reading program at the elementary school. You used to tell us stories about your volunteering there. In fact, the brother who was conducting said, "Bob Morley who was a member of this ward for many, many years volunteered with this program even into his 90's." I smiled with pride and thought, "That's my Grandpa." Thinking about you and other ancestors esp on this 9/11 day.

I love you, I miss you but because of the Restored Gospel and eternal families, I do not fear but look forward to the time when we can all be together again.

Love,

Heather
